SENIOR HIGH CAMP – Day 1
Well, it’s Day One and it’s already full.
We got to camp and started with the camp picture. The full res., 5MB picture is below, both a serious and a fun one. After that, we headed for dinner, and introduced the weekend. Our worship team is Junior Tagata from Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, our Speaker is Marcus Randolph from Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, I, one of the camp pastors is from Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, and everyone else is the same crew as from Junior High Camp: Adam, Director, Heather, Activities, and same location…well, duh.
So, the students got “robbed” again, as their buses pulled in, and in order to get their stuff back, someone had to “pay.” In other words, what was the “ransom” for their stuff? Well, Gloria was the one to “take it,” and “it” was a cream pie in the face. Adam got a little into it, and smeared it. He wasn’t satisfied with the mere “one-shot-in-the-face-and-leave-it-be” technique.
Like Junior High Camp, there’s the “Minute to Win It” games, like the petroleum jelly on the nose to move cotton balls, and the streamers thingy, whose name is escaping me right now.
Most importantly, Marcus brought a message of dealing with the sin that’s been done to us. Showing a couple clips from Hook, he demonstrated that the Devil’s job is to take a small piece of fact (that something bad happened to us) and turn it into a big lie (that it’s all God’s fault). In reality, we need to be healed from that, we need to let it go, and not blame God for the free will of humans. Freeing ourselves from the “blaming of God” is the first step towards a remedy. Several students responded, and we’re excited to see how God is going to plant the seeds from this message into the hearts and souls of our students to grow into love, peace, joy, etc.
Already we can see that the High Schoolers are truly embracing the fullness of camp. We’re really looking forward to a great week!

Hi Pastor Kevin,
Thank you for the update, the kids look like their having a blast. I can see that Deborah is having a great time:)
Sincerly,
Magda Ramos
She’s doing really well. She’s thankful that we’re having a “real” breakfast; and not like the one we did at Winter Camp (where we made the kids eat a half granola bar and a cup of water). It’s a delight to have her at camp. We’re blessed by her!
Thanks Pastor Kevin for letting me know how she is doing. It’s been a loooong week without her, but it’s also important for her to be around other teens her age, and to learn more about her spiritual walk with Jesus. I don’t have enough words to ever thank you for letting my daughter be a part of your youth group, and for making her feel welcomed and accepted.
May God truly bless you and your wonderful staff at Abundant Life, your staff and students are always in my prayers.
Thanks again,
Magda Ramos
